"
I will always endeavour to get the best out of my pupils, regardless
of their natural abilities"
I
started dancing at the age of four in my hometown of Preston,
where I took after-school classes in tap and ballet at least 4
times a week.
After finishing my secondary education at a dance and boarding
school in Yorkshire, I decided to audition for the Stella Mann
School of Dancing. I was so delighted to be accepted onto their
3 year teaching course - this is where I first met Erna and Debbie.
I loved dancing and the London life so much that after graduation
I decided to stay on and put together a dance group with a couple
of friends to tour the UK and abroad - thus gaining my full equity
card!
Having also worked at several vocational colleges including names
such as Italia Conti means that I have former pupils working in
television and the West End.
Stella Mann then offered me the position of jazz teacher to both
students and lower school pupils which turned out to be a fantastic
opportunity and experience.
Ballet, however, has always been my passion and when the opportunity
arose to take over the lower school, I grabbed it with both hands!
When the College moved up to Bedford, I kept the younger students
at the O2 centre in Finchley Road, London - a fabulously placed
venue for children to get to from all over North West London.
I am so pleased to now be teaching with jumpup in their newly
fitted studios in West Hampstead and I'm really looking forward
to the challenge of being able to offer a wider variation of grades
and classes to the children.
I will always endeavour to get the best out of my pupils, regardless
of their natural abilities.
