"
the aim of giving through teaching "
I
started dancing at a very young age, attending the Stella Mann
School of Dancing, and passing exams in ISTD Ballet, Modern, and
National Dance. It was so much fun, that it soon became my main
focus, and I went on to train at the London Studio Centre.
From there, I joined the Weiner Ballet Company touring around
Germany and performing in, amongst others, Swan Lake, Romeo and
Juliet, and The Nutcracker.
Returning to London, I worked in various commercials, and as a
television dancer, before returning to Germany to join the Keil
Ballet Company as a soloist in Coppelia, Carmina Burana and The
Sleeping Beauty. I then came back to England, joining the original
tour of Phantom of The Opera, at the Manchester Opera House, where
I was to meet my future husband!
Returning to London again, I went to study on the Professional
Dancers Teacher Training Course, at the RAD....obtaining a distinction
on completion, and winning the Jerwood Award for most outstanding
teacher.
Later that year, I got married...at London Zoo! (and no, it wasn't
in any of the animal enclosures!!). Two years later, we had our
beautiful daughter Cate.
Meeting up with Erna again, after so long, gave us the impetus
to start Jumpup...with the aim of giving through teaching, a little
of what we were so lucky to have had when we were small!
